Background Note
Drexel Furniture, established in North Carolina in 1903, became one of America's premier post-war furniture manufacturers known for high-quality craftsmanship and diverse design collections. During the late 1960s and 1970s, Mediterranean Revival styles swept American home decor, characterized by dark oak finishes, heavy moldings, wrought-iron accents, and elaborate wood carvings. Drexel produced several popular Mediterranean lines under its main name and Burlington House branding to meet the widespread demand for ornate, European-inspired dining room suites.
