Gilt Ornate Beveled Wall Mirror
A rectangular wall mirror featuring beveled glass set inside a molded composite frame finished in antiqued gilt. The wide perimeter displays sculpted relief scrollwork, acanthus foliate accents along the outer profile, and ornate cresting at each corner.
Background Note
Acanthus leaf ornamentation and scrolled corner crests originated in classical architecture before becoming defining elements of European Baroque and Rococo decorative arts. In the twentieth century, the development of cast resins and dense composites allowed makers to reproduce the elaborate undercuts and complex contours of historic hand-carved giltwood with reliable durability and precise detail.
