Background Note
Mixed media art, which combines various materials into a single piece, allows for rich texture and dimension, as seen in this artwork's use of glass and other elements. Shadow boxes, traditionally used for displaying collectibles, have evolved into a popular medium for contemporary artists to create three-dimensional compositions. This locally made piece exemplifies modern applications of the shadow box, transforming it into a self-contained artistic display.
