Textured Cross Canvas
This contemporary artwork features a prominent cross design against a textured green canvas background. The cross itself is richly embellished with a mosaic of colorful mixed materials, including metallic gold, various shades of blue, and hints of orange and white, encapsulated within a clear resin finish, creating a dimensional and tactile surface. This locally handcrafted piece serves as a decorative accent with a spiritual motif.
Background Note
Mixed-media art, which combines various artistic mediums and techniques, became a prominent form in the 20th century as artists explored new ways to create texture, depth, and unique visual narratives. This approach allows for a fusion of different materials, such as paint, glass, and resin, offering artists the freedom to create a more dynamic and engaging experience. Textured art, like this piece, specifically aims to engage both the visual and tactile senses, adding a physical dimension to the artwork.
